Lloyd Dell Limmer, Sr., 85, of Burton, died May 6, 2016, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 9, at Wesley Brethren Church of Wesley with Rev. Michael Groseclose officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Limmer was born Sept. 18, 1930, in Needville, TX, to Gus and Olga (Dusek) Limmer. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the American Legion for more than 50 years. He was a member of Wesley Brethren Church. Hobbies included woodworking, making items for fund raisers and doing crossword puzzles. Family reunions were important to him and he especially loved his grandchildren. He was very patient and charitable. He loved animals, especially cats, and strays often found their way to him.
Survivors include his son, Lloyd D. Limmer, Jr. and Kim G. Limmer, both of Burton; daughter, Joy Sandel of Brenham; sister and brother-in-law, Tuddy and Marvin Galler of Needville; sisters-in-law, Lucy Whitney and Sue Tatterson; grandchildren: Bryan Hartman, James Hartman, Mallory Ehlert, Maegan Limmer, Crystal Limmer and Keith Phillips; several great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Rebecca (Biscamp) Limmer; and daughter, Debbie.
Pallbearers will be Bryan Hartman, James Hartman, Keith Phillips, Scott Parisher, Cecil Patrick and Matt Ehlert. Honorary pallbearers are Butch Bordovsky and Mike Bordovsky.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice Brazos Valley.
