LoAnn Allen, 70, of Somerville, died June 24, 2008, in Burleson St. Joseph Medical Center in Caldwell. Ms. Allen was born Jan. 16, 1938, to Herbert Eugene and Caldona Mae "Peggy" Burnet Cromwell, in Bell, Los Angeles County, California. She was a member of the Eastern Star. Her number one interest was her children, grandchildren and family. She loved music, bowling, softball, bingo, the outdoors, fishing and boat riding. Ms. Allen was an assistant manager at Wal-Mart. Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald Lindsley of Marshall, Jamy and Carolyn Richards of Somerville and Barney and Dawn Allen of Somerville; daughter and son-in-law, Dora and Larry Bice of Karnack; sisters and brother-in-law, Etta Jo and Clyde Smith of Somerville and Rosaline Rupp of Durham, North Carolina; 11 grandchildren, Casey Lindsley, Sonny Lindsley, Robert Baskin, Mary Johnson, Russell Harville, Toni Hearn, Ashley Allen, Joseph Schulte, Joshua Allen and Justin Allen; two great-grandchildren, Corbin Baskin and Callie Schulte; and lifetime friend, Diane Ganske. She was preceded in death by her parents, and granddaughter, Christina Harville. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 26 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. The funeral service will be at 4:00 p.m. Friday, June 27 at Memorial Oaks Chapel with Rev. Tim Burgess officiating. The graveside service will be at Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham under the auspices of the Brenham Chapter of the Eastern Star #144. Pallbearers will be Ron Lindsley, Russell Harville, Robert Baskin, Joseph Schulte, Chester Ruether and Jason Busby. Memorials may be given to the Brenham Chapter of the Eastern Star #144. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., in Brenham.
