Lois Ann Powell Chutz, 57, of Brenham, wife of John A. Chutz III, passed away in her home, February 14, 2011, surrounded by her family. Lois Ann was born October 10, 1953 in New Orleans, LA. to Ray M. and Annie Bell Schindler Powell. A registered nurse, she was a graduate of Charity Hospital School of Nursing in New Orleans. On May 18, 1985, she was married to John A. Chutz III in Slidell, LA. Lois was an OBGYN nurse for 13 years, a Med/Surg nurse in Katy for 4 years, and later, a home health nurse for 17 years in Boerne and Katy. She also worked with AMA Home Care in Brenham. Her goal was caring for her patients, and nursing them back to health. She enjoyed raising goats and taking care of her many other pets. A favorite pastime was watching her daughter compete in horseback riding events. Survivors include her husband, John A. Chutz III; her parents, Ray and Annie Powell of Poplarville, MS.; daughter Anne Krystn Chutz of Brenham; brothers Warran and Anita Powell of Katy, and Gordon and Laura Powell of Cypress; sister Mike and Terri Powell Smith of Poplarville, MS; mother-in-law, Barbara B. Chutz of Chalmette, Louisiana; brothers-in-law, Michael B. Chutz of Chalmette, Louisiana and Patrick and Cindy Chutz of Pearl River, Louisiana; and sister-in-law, Kathleen and Robert Burkhardt of Breaux Bridge, Louisiana. A memorial will be held Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel, with Pastor Jill Vivroux officiating. Her wishes were to be cremated. Memorials may be directed to Indigent Care, AMA Home Care, 348 Stone Hill Drive, Ste. 101, Brenham, Tx. 77833, in memory of Lois Ann Chutz. The family wishes to thank Ruth Gurka and the staff of AMA Home Care for the extraordinary nursing care provided for Lois.
