Lois Smith

Lois Marie Smith, 84, died August 14, 2019 at her residence in Brenham.

Lois was born October 1, 1934 in Brenham to Julius and Ella Green Studhalter. She married William Joe Smith on November 10, 1951 at St. Peter Lutheran Church of Gay Hill.

As a devoted homemaker, Lois loved to cook and bake. Gardening, taking care of her flowers, fishing, and camping were favorite pastimes. She treasured time spent with her grandchildren, and enjoyed spending time with them outdoors. Lois enjoyed visiting and socializing, having never met a stranger. Worrying about others and always there to offer a helping hand were special traits which endeared her family and friends.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law Robert L. and Dianne Smith of Brenham, and Jimmy R. and Louise Smith of Caldwell; sister-in-law Kathy Studhalter of Sugarland; grandchildren: Brian and Kristyn Smith, Katie Smith, Jeremy and Liz Smith, Angie Gottscholl, Ben Gottscholl, Bobbi Jo Gottscholl; great-grandchildren: Easton Smith, William Hoyt Smith, Kyli Gottscholl, Ashley Lindsey, Allison Lindsey, Jesslynn Crosby; and nephew, Mike Luckenbill.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Joe Smith, and a brother, Harold Joe Studhalter.

The funeral service for Lois Smith will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, August 18, 2019 at St. Peter Lutheran Church of Gay Hill, with Pastor Skip Stutts officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Oaks Chapel.

Serving as pallbearers are Brian Smith, Jeremy Smith, Ben Poncik, Mike Luckenbill, Ben Gottscholl, and Cory Tucker. Honorary pallbearers are Jim Blott, Danny Farrington, and Charles Tucker, as well as caregivers Ricklynn Gaines, Tina Richmond, Margie Brown, Darlenne Williams and Birdie Tyler.

Memorials may be directed to St. Peter Lutheran Church Building Fund, or to Traditions Hospice.
