Loraine Roeske

May 26, 1927 — April 23, 2018

Loraine Louise (Leschber) Roeske, 90, of Brenham, TX, widow of Leonard Roeske, went to her eternal home Monday evening, April 23, 2018 at Kruse Village.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Friday, April 27, 2018 at Christ Lutheran Church, with Pastors Mark Groves and Walter Schindehette officiating, along with Msg. Benedict Zientek. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Oaks Chapel.

Loraine was born in Hare, Texas to Otto A Leschber and Dora (Pasemann) Leschber on May 26, 1927. She was baptized on August 14, 1927 at Zion Lutheran Church, Sandoval, Texas and also confirmed in the same church on November 9, 1941.

Loraine was married on June 18, 1947 in Sandoval, Texas to the love of her life, Leonard Roeske. They lived in Taylor, TX until they moved to Brenham in 1955 when dad was elected 1st Vice President of Germania Insurance. Here is where they made their home with their family, friends and their church.

Loraine was the rock behind her husband for 65 years. She was the President where her love and talents provided the perfect family home. She enjoyed sewing in her early years and was a great cook and she canned the best pickles. They always had a big garden where they enjoyed giving to family and friends. Loraine loved to travel. With Germania, she was able to do a lot of traveling as she was by Dad’s side supporting him thru it all. She always loved to be going and visiting and she especially enjoyed her gambling trips to the casino and of course, playing bingo always brought her fun and laughter. After Dad’s retirement, they enjoyed traveling with their trailer where they visited places camping and fishing. She a member of the VFW Post 7104 and American Legion Buddy Wright Post 48 Auxiliaries and the Sons of Herman Lodge 6 where she held numerous positions throughout the years.

Survivors include her sons - Rodney Roeske and special friend, Dorothy Cendalski; Sidney Roeske and wife Karen, all from Brenham; and daughter, Deborah Bryant and husband Troy from Arlington.

Grandchildren - Ryan Roeske and wife Genna of Brenham; Shawn Roeske and wife Patricia of League City; Dustin Gibson and wife Karley of Rosenburg; and Jennifer Gibson Karter of Arlington; Lacey Roeske Minks and husband Ryan of Wallis TX; Step Grandchildren - Jan Braziel and husband Mike of Houston; and Carole Cearley and husband Jon of Kyle.

Great Grandchildren – Taylor Roeske of Waco, Rayna Roeske of Brenham, Haiden Roeske of Brenham; Kendall and Kenzie Karter of Arlington; Amanda Roeske of League City, Mila Gibson due in May; Step Great Grandchildren Jared and John Michael Brazil of Houston; Liam Cearly of Kyle, and Hayden and Trace Minks of Wallis.

Other surviving relatives are nieces and nephews Curtis Kerlin, Joy (Wernecke) Moehnke, Judy (Wernecke) Phillips as well as several great nieces and great nephews, as well as step great-great grandchildren Julia and Matthew Braziel of Houston, TX.

Loraine was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Roeske; parents Otto and Dora (Pasemann) Leschber, Father and Mother in-law Frank and Amanda (Belz) Roeske; Daughter in-law Faye (Dierking) Roeske, Sisters and brothers-in-law Alice and Emil Kerlin; Doris and John Wernecke; Brother Herman P Leschber; Sisters in law and Brothers in law – Emma and Henry Kaase; Alma and George Obermiller; and brother- in- law Oscar Roeske.

Serving as pallbearers are Shawn Roeske, Dustin Gibson, Ryan Roeske, Ryan Minks, Randy Forrester and Doug Moehnke. Honorary pallbearer Curtis Kerlin.

We want to give a special thanks to her caregivers Wanda Lattimore, Julia Marshall and Kim Wright for the unconditional love and companionship you gave her these last years. Thanks also to Kruse Village and Brenham Nursing and Rehab for your care and especially the Rehab centers at both facilities for your timeless encouragement. Thanks to Brazos Valley Hospice for guidance and support during these last few days.
