Louis Griffin "LG" Albright was born on November 16, 1934 in Houston, Texas to Ophelia Dye Albright and Louis Henry Albright. He completed his 90 year journey on earth on December 5, 2024.
He loved to share stories with his sister, Millie, from his younger years, and he continued to have stories all throughout his life as LG never met a stranger. On November 27, 1971, he married Lois Weinert Albright at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Shelby, Texas.
LG was never afraid of hard work and desired to provide for his family. After graduating from Reagan High School in Houston, he worked his way from meter reader to foreman at Houston Lighting and Power. While he was forever a proud Houstonian and a die-hard Houston Astros fan, he also loved his "country" life in Brenham, Texas. After moving to Brenham in 1980, he drove trucks for Brenham Wholesale Grocery Company for over 20 years. Those early mornings and long routes led to many stories and an abundance of friends. When retirement got too quiet, he decided to return to work and delivered for Country Boy Sausage.
Having a perfectly manicured 3 acre "lawn" was his passion and a pastime he thoroughly enjoyed. He spent countless hours on a lawn mower with a Dr. Pepper in his hand. Always up for a fun time, he spent most of his weekends at local dances and could out polka anyone there! LG never missed an opportunity to enjoy a cold beer with friends. He was a proud member of Harmonie Hall, Shelby Volunteer Fire Department, and Salem Lutheran Church.
Grandchildren changed his life and gave him more joy as he could let his inner child make decisions. Whether it was lawn mower trailer rides, coloring, playing police and fireman, dress up, or cupcakes and ice cream for breakfast, if "Papa's Rascals" asked for it, he was up for it!
Losing his wife, Lois, in 2021 was challenging and he realized he actually missed those "honey-do lists" and her guidance. Bec's Blessings in Giddings, Texas became his home and he felt loved and spoiled there.
Never caring much about the finer things in life and always finding joy in the moment, he was known to proclaim his happiness with "everything's alright with Albright." Up until the very end, he was content with family and friends around him sharing a good old story from the past.
LG is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Allison and Chris Gorrebeeck of Austin, TX, Ashley and Myles Niemeyer of Ledbetter, TX; his grandchildren, Kyler Giles, Ava, Griffin and Gavin Gorrebeeck, Adrie, Haylie, and Colt Niemeyer; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, George and Zlata Betondo, Betty Huebner, David and Kelly Weinert. His good buddy, Kenneth Anderson; and best furry friend, Orbit. He leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lois Albright; sister, Mildred Betondo; brother-in-law, Donald Huebner; best friends, Larry and Margaret Huron; and beloved dogs, Scooter and Beamer.
