Lucilie Hinze Leonhardt, 98, widow of Bennie Leonhardt, passed away February 21, 2013 in Brenham Nursing and Rehab. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Saturday Feb. 23, 2013 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Round Top, with Pastor David Nedbalek officiating. Burial will follow at the Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:30 until 7 p.m. Friday evening at Foehner Funeral Home in Burton. Lucilie was born September 4, 1914 in the LaBahia Community to Albert and Emma Kuehn Hinze. She was baptized March 2, 1915 in Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine and confirmed April 1, 1928 in Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Round Top. On April 20, 1933, she married Bennie Leonhardt, also at Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Round Top. Lucilie was a devoted wife and mother, and helped Bennie on the family farm. After raising her children, she worked at the Brenham State School in client care. After her admission to the nursing home, Lucilie enjoyed playing dominoes, mainly Chicken Foot. She participated in all activities offered there until a short time before her death. She enjoyed life and rarely complained, always putting her children and grandchildren''s needs above her own. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She leaves to mourn her passing a son and daughter-in-law, Alwood and Henrietta Leonhardt of Rosenberg; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Al Duane Kunkel of Burton; eight grandchildren and spouses, Keith and Barbara Schoenemann of Carmine, Bradley Leonhardt and Debbie Jones of Fairchilds, Brian and Alexandra Schoenemann of Yoakum, Wanda and Scott Gillum of College Station, Teresa and Lloyd Zuehlke of Cypress, Randall and Stephanie Leonhardt of Rosenberg, Jeff and Bonnie Kunkel of Brenham, and Garrett and Jordan Kunkel of San Antonio; fourteen great-grandchildren: Kacey and Lauren Schoenemann, April and Linsee Leonhardt, Ashley and Kyle Schoenemann, Colt and Lauren Gillum, Amber Gillum and fiancé Trinity Crow, Tamara and Michael Twidell, Tara Zuehlke and fiancé Matt Brawley, Kaylee Leonhardt and Cash, Hunter, and Lily Kunkel. Also surviving are four great-great-grandchildren: Troy and Trista, Zoey, and Gaige, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, parents, daughter and son-in-law, Ruth and O. B. Schoenemann; three brothers, Kenney, Erie and Wilfred Hinze; one sister Della Long, sisters-in-law Lydia Hinze and Mytis Hinze, and brother-in-law, Freddie Long. Memorials may be given in Lucilie''s memory to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, or Hospice Brazos Valley. Serving as pallbearers are her grandsons.
