LUCILLE ERNISTINE BROESCHE, age 95, died at her home on Wednesday, January25, 2012.She was born March 25, 1916, in Beasley, Texas, the daughter and first child of Charles William Krause and Louise Walzel Krause. She was baptized into the Christian faith in Beasley on October 16, 1916, by Rev. Karl Markel, and was confirmed on March 29, 1930 by Rev. Detler Balzer at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Houston. Lucille attended public schools in Beasley, Houston, and Brenham, graduating from Brenham High School. She attended Blinn College in Brenham and The University of Texas in Austin. She then taught school in a one room school house in Austin County. Lucille and Travis Broesche were married October 11, 1936, at St Paul''s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Brenham, and they remained married for over 67 years, until Travis'' death in August 2003. She and Travis lived in Brenham, San Antonio during World War II, and later in Houston. She and Travis returned to Brenham in the 1970''s. She was active at St. Paul''s Evangelical Lutheran Church in the Altar Guild, as a Sunday school teacher, and the Thursday morning Circle. She was also a life member of The Washington County Heritage Society, The Brenham Heritage Museum and a member of Fortnightly. During the years in Houston and Brenham she spent many hours helping Travis with the interior finishes of the many churches, schools, work places, and residences he designed. She loved going with him to "check jobs." They also enjoyed traveling in the USA and around the world with friends. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, or "GaGa" as the grandchildren all called her. She never missed any of their special moments. Lucille was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband Travis. She is survived by: sister, Helen Simmons of Houston; daughter and son-in-law Brenda and Ira Allen of Brenham; son and daughter in law, Travis Charles and Suzann Broesche of Houston; Grandson, Travis Jefferson Allen and wife Charla of Houston; Grandson, Col. Neil Thomas Allen and wife Debbe Jo of Pensacola, Florida; Grandson, Jeffrey Charles Broesche and wife Jennifer Jones of Brooklyn, New York; Grandson, Garreth Paul Broesche and wife Lauren Cascio of Madison, Wisconson; and eight great grandchildren, Cheyney Michelle Allen, Claire Elisabeth Allen, Taylor Christen Allen, Zachary Thomas Allen, Hannah Grace Allen, Ryan Matthew Gard, Jasper Travis Broesche-Jones, and Milena Niclecta Broesche-Jones. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Serving as pall bearers are Lucille''s grandsons and great grandsons, nephew Buzz Parks, nephew Michael Petitt, and Charles Thomas. The family offers great thanks to Lucille''s loving care givers during her final years: Brenda Ann Kapchenski, Bonnie Conklin, Roxie Lambert, AMA, Katy Bennett and most recently, Mandy Aruck, Victoria Harley and Hospice Brazos Valley. Special recognition goes out to Charles Thomas, loyal helper at the farm, and great friend. The family would also like to thank the St. Paul''s Evangelical Lutheran Church Communion Volunteers, especially Billie Wolff, Ann Lehmann, and Bernadette Kamprath, for their faithful assistance to the pastors in bringing Communion to Lucille when she became homebound. After a private burial , a memorial service will be held Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 11 am at St. Paul''s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 305 West 3rd at South Austin in Brenham. The Rev. Phil Fenton will officiate. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to St. Paul''s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Brenham, Hospice Brazos Valley , or The Travis and Lucille Broesche Scholarship Fund at Blinn College, Brenham, Texas.
