Luene Grant Jamison Harmer

February 19, 1919 — March 10, 2021

Luene Grant Jamison Harmer passed peacefully at 102 in Georgetown, TX, March 10, 2021. She was born in McGehee Arkansas, on February 19, 1919, the only daughter of Lois McClain and John Sidney Grant. Her family lived in Arkansas until moving to Corpus Christi, TX in 1926. She attended Corpus Christi Junior College and graduated from Draughons Business College.

Luene married George Byron Jamison on June 25, 1938 in the First Christian Church of Corpus Christi. They later moved to Houston, TX and remained there for twenty-seven years where they had two children, Janice and Byron.

Luene later moved onto their farm in Brenham in 1969. In Brenham, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church, served as a “Pink Lady” for over ten years for St. Jude Hospital, was a life member of the Heritage Society of Washington County, and volunteered for the Faith Mission. She and her husband, George, enjoyed traveling throughout the country in their Airstream with the Wally Byam Caravan Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband George Jamison, and husband Glenn Harmer, her brother John Grant Jr., and her son G. Byron Jamison II. She is survived by her daughter Janice A. Bammel and three granddaughters, Melanie Jamison, Jennifer Grow, and Laura O’Gan. She is also survived by her five great grandchildren, Kye Babin, David Grow V, Paxton Grow, Dalton Grow and Jamison O’Gan, one great-great grandchild, Koda Walker, and her niece/Guardian Rita L. Grant.

Memorial service will be held at Memorial Oaks Chapel on March 17 at 1:00 p.m., with private burial services held at Prairie Lea Cemetery, Brenham, TX.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers a contribution be made to the charity of choice or the First United Methodist Church of Brenham, TX.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 West Main Street, Brenham, TX 77833.
