Lula Lueckemeyer Tutu Broecker, 90, died July 2, 2006, in Houston, Texas. She was born October 24, 1915, to Theo and Lottie Lueckemeyer. She was baptized and confirmed in New Wehdem Lutheran Church. On April 20, 1935, she was married to Erwin Boots Broecker. They later became members of St. Paul s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brenham. She is survived by two daughters, Shirley Joswiak and Debby Jasinski; six granddaughters; six grandsons; 24 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; one daughter-in-law, Glennette Broecker; one son-in-law, Frank Schlicht; one sister, Lillian Henske and husband Melvin; two brothers, Ed Lueckemeyer and Odell Lueckemeyer and wife Willie Mae; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Mrs. T.W Lueckemeyer and Ilene Mrs. Franklin Lueckemeyer; and numerous relatives and friends. Lu was a determined, beautiful, humorous and talented lady. Her greatest pleasure was her family and friends. She cared for and touched many lives and left us with many memories. She was preceded in death by her husband, Erwin Boots Broecker; son, Donald Butch Broecker; daughter, Patsy Schlicht; her parents; brothers, Franklin Lueckemeyer and T.W. Lueckemeyer; sister, Dorephy Blume; son-in-law, Skip Joswiak; and sister-in-law, Irene Mrs. Ed Lueckemeyer. Pallbearers are her six grandsons, Scott Schlicht, Fred Schlicht, Kurtis Schlicht, Patrick Schlicht, Poncho Schlicht and Jerry Schlicht. Honorary pallbearers are Jim Koenig, Les Cark, David Clark, Tim Womble, Ed Phillips, Brian Komanetsky, Josh Howard, Joe Gandera, Kenny Estep, Rick Kraft and Jim Vincent. Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Penny and Dr. Garza, the very caring staff of St. John s Hospital and Thera Care Home Health and the many, many friends and family who kept us uplifted these past few months. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Paul s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brenham or the American Cancer Society. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, July 5 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Memorial Oaks Chapel. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 6 at St. Paul s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brenham with Pastor Lawrence Bade officiating.
