Luster Allen

Luster N. Allen , Jr. age 85, of Chappell Hill, died January 19, 2007 in Colonial Belle Nursing Home, Bellville, Texas. Mr. Allen was born March 27, 1921, in Houston, Texas. His parents were Luster N. Sr. and Fannie B. Allen. He was educated at John H. Regan High School in Houston and Tarlton State University. Mr. Allen served his country in the Army during World War II. On July 14, 1953, he was married to Blanche Mae Dillon in Houston. Mr. Allen was retired after 38 years with the tax assessor-collector s office for Harris County. He was a member of Chappell Hill United Methodist Church, Houston Lodge #1189 AF & AM, Scottish Rite, and the Hubert Lodge #67 of AF & AM of Chappell Hill. Survivors include two nieces, Linda Carol Galceran and her husband Earl of Houston and Janice Garvin of St. Louis, Missouri; great-nieces and great-nephews, Robert Allen Galceran and wife Lori of Houston, Sherri Burcham and husband Michael of Houston, Christopher Galceran and wife Glenda of Breckenridge, Colorado and Kimberly Crall and husband Aaron of St. Louis, Missouri; great-great-nieces and great-great-nephew, Morgan Burcham, Michael Burcham II, Oliva Crall and Hailey Crall. He was preceded in death by his wife, Blanche Mae Allen, on Jan. 11, 1998. The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23 at Chappell Hill United Methodist Church of Chappell Hill with Rev. Kathy Harrell officiating. The graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23 at Forest Park Lawndale in Houston. Serving as pallbearers will be Christopher Galceran, Robert Galceran, Michael Burcham, Sherri Burcham, Lori Galceran, Morgan Burcham and Michael Burcham II. Memorials may be given to Chappell Hill United Methodist Church of Chappell Hill. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., in Brenham.
