Lydia Dreyer

Lydia Winkelmann Dreyer, 96, of Brenham, died Dec. 25, 2004, in Trinity Care Center in Brenham. Mrs. Dreyer was born Jan. 1, 1908, in Washington County, Texas, to Charles and Charlotte Stegemoeller Winkelmann. She was baptized in Wiedeville and was confirmed in Sandy Hill. Mrs. Dreyer attended Union Grove School. On Nov. 25, 1931, she was married to Arnold Dreyer Sr. in Wiedeville. Mrs. Dreyer was a homemaker and loved to sew and quilt. She also enjoyed playing cards and dominoes and watching The Price Is Right, her soap stories and the Houston Astros. Mrs. Dreyer was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she was a member of the Women of the ELCA. For 57 years she was a member of the Sons of Hermann. Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Arnold Jr. Bubba and Shirley Dreyer of Brenham and Glynn Earl and Marilyn Dreyer of Wesley; 6 grandchildren, Alan and Lisa Dreyer, Don and Janie Dreyer, Ann and Joe Garnett, Amy and Michael Flynn, Amber and Jon Westerfeld and Dana and Tommy Bolcerek; 14 great-grandchildren, Dickson, Pearson, Sully and Taylor Garnett, Amanda and Andrea Dreyer, Spencer and Oliver Flynn, Tatum and Gracie Westerfeld, Chance and Chad Bolcerek and Jeffrey and Shannon Burger; sister, Beatta Roberts of Richmond; and sisters-in-law, Helen Winkelmann, Lonnie Dreyer and Annie Dreyer Peters, all of Brenham. She was preceded in death by her her parents; her husband, Arnold Dreyer, Sr.; an infant daughter; brothers, Fritz, Rudolf, Henry and Sam Winkelmann; and sisters, Heneritta Winkelmann and Minnie Dreyer. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28 in Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wiedeville with Pastor Jim Abbott officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Her grandchildren will serve as pallbearers, and her great-grandchildren will be considered honorary pallbearers. Memorials may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church of Wiedeville Building Fund. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., in Brenham.
