M.C. Kieke, 85, of Burton, died March 12, 2007, at St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan. Mr. Kieke was born Nov. 28, 1921, in Burton, Texas, to Willie H. and Rosa Jaster Kieke. He was baptized Feb. 19, 1922, at St. John s United Church of Christ in Burton and was confirmed on Palm Sunday, 1936 in the same church. Mr. Kieke attended Boundary School. On Nov. 16, 1958, he was married to Dora Tappe, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church of William Penn. Mr. Kieke was a Burton mail carrier for 29 years. He was a member of St. John s United Church of Christ in Burton, where he served on the council and usher team and worked on the newsletter. He was a member of Burton and Carmine Volunteer Fire Departments, La Bahia Hall, Burton Sons of Hermann, Burton Farm Bureau and was a director of the La Bahia Cemetery. Mr. Kieke was also a member of the Rural Letter Carrier Association, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and Burton Cotton Gin and was a volunteer for Fishes and Loaves in Burton. Survivors include his wife, Dora Kieke of Burton; a daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Jerry Krebs of Willow Springs; a son, Darrell Kieke of Burton; grandchildren, Jared Krebs of Willow Springs, Jenna Krebs of Willow Springs, Katie Kieke of Burton; a brother-in-law, William Tappe of William Penn; cousins, Anita Stebner of Houston and Nadine Muske of Brenham; and a host of relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation with the family will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 14 at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham and from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 15 at Foehner Funeral Home in Burton. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 16 at St. John s United Church of Christ in Burton with Rev. Glen Schoeneberg and Greg Felder officiating. Burial will be in La Bahia Cemetery in Burton. Pallbearers will be Gary Mueller, Robert Hinze, Glenwood Hinze, Dean Fuchs, Allen Mueller, Bradley Muske, James Giese and Dennis Maass. In lieu of flowers, make memorials to St. John s United Church of Christ Building Fund, the Burton Park Project or La Bahia Cemetery Fund. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., Brenham and Foehner Funeral Home, 13560 W. Washington St., Burton.
