Madeline passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2014 in Plano, Texas. She was born on February 4, 1927 in Somerville, Texas, the daughter of Mamie and William Arendale. She grew up in Somerville with her sister, Delia, known as "Deedee". She graduated from Somerville High School in 1944. Madeline attended the University of Texas in Austin and graduated with a bachelor''s degree in 1948. Madeline taught high school in Somerville after graduation. While at UT, she met Wilburn E. Schultz, from Brenham, Texas, who was attending Texas A&M University. They married on May 29, 1949. After marrying Wilburn, they moved to several locations in Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico for Wilburn''s career in the oil industry. In 1957, while living in Houston, Texas, their first daughter, Lisa Carol, was born. In 1959, while living in Midland, Texas, their second daughter, Molly Ann, was born. In 1960, Madeline moved, with her family, to Los Angeles, California where they raised their two daughters. The years spent in California were very special years. Her time was devoted to her girls and Wilburn. She was a wonderful wife and mother. Madeline was proud to be the Brownie and Girl Scout leader for both daughters'' troops. She was a wonderful role model to her daughters, but through girl scouts, she also became a loved role model to all of her daughter''s friends. Even after Girl Scouts ended, Madeline continued to be active planning outings and learning opportunities for her daughters and their friends. After enjoying almost 14 years in California, Madeline and her family moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma for Wilburn''s promotion. While in Tulsa, Madeline got very involved with the Newcomer''s Assoc. and the local DAR Daughter''s of the American Revolution chapter. She rediscovered her love for tennis and played several times a week for years, competing in several leagues at the Tulsa Southern Tennis Club. After retirement in 1988, Madeline and Wilburn moved to Plano, Texas, to be close to their daughters and grandchildren. Madeline became active in Plano tennis leagues, Plano bowling leagues, and golfing with the Plano Senior Center. She was an active part in her grandchildren''s lives, attending almost every sport event, dance recital, open house, and school performance that the five grandchildren were involved in. Madeline took pleasure and much pride in them all. In 2012, Wilburn passed away after 63 years of marriage. In 2013, Madeline decided to move to Sunrise senior living. She made many new and dear friends that quickly became very special to her. She enjoyed bingo, outings to the movies, dinner with her friends, and the wonderful musicians they brought in. Madeline loved to sing and dance and spent much of her life enjoying both. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilburn E. Schultz, her parents, Mamie and William Arendale, her sister, Delia Gilmore, and her son in law, Bill Hannah. Survivors include her daughter, Lisa Hannah, her daughter and son-in-law, Molly and Randy Haga, her grandsons, Blake and Clay Hannah, and her granddaughters, Paige, Kelly and Brooke Haga, all of Plano, Texas. She is also survived by her nephew and his wife, Rod and Judy Gilmore of Houston, Texas. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main, Brenham.
