Maggie Lee Estes, 91, of Hempstead, died March 8, 2006, in Trinity Medical Center in Brenham. Mrs. Estes was born August 25, 1914, in Paducah, Texas, to William Peter and Martha Ara Cooke Jennings. In 1937, she was married to Lonie Estes. Mrs. Estes was a member of First Methodist Church in Hempstead. She loved to sew, make quilts and be creative with antique fabrics. She loved to share her creative talents through giving. Mrs. Estes was a teacher. Survivors include her daughters and son-in-law, Sandra and Don Copeland of Ponca City, Oklahoma and Martha Estes of Hempstead; son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Karen Estes of Shelburne Falls, Massachusettes; four grandchildren, Stephanie and Darren Copeland, Amy Scroggins and husband Tobin; and Emily Estes; and sister, Gertrude Michie of Greenville. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lonie; two brothers; and two sisters. A graveside service will be held Saturday, March 11 at 11:00 am at Forest Park Westheimer in Houston. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., in Brenham.
