It has pleased God, in accordance with His merciful and divine providence, on July 22, 2013 to summon to Himself out of this vale of tears, the soul of Malet Markwardt Weatherby. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, July 24 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham. The funeral service will be Thursday, July 25 at 10:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Brenham with Pastors Matthew Jacobs and William Holzer officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham. Malet was born March 4, 1970, in Conroe, Texas, to Chester Markwardt, Jr. and Karen Schmidt Markwardt. Malet was baptized on May 17, 1970, at St. Mark''s Lutheran Church of Conroe, Texas by Pastor William Luecke. Malet was confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church of Brenham, Texas on April 15, 1984 by Pastor Jon Siemsglusz. She was a graduate of Blinn College and Sam Houston State University. As a teacher in Brenham ISD, she enjoyed teaching children. Her family was an important part of her life, and she enjoyed taking the children to birthday parties, going to baseball games, swim meets and playing games. She was loving and caring and always put others first. Malet was married February 5, 1994 to Lance Lamar Weatherby in Grace Lutheran Church of Brenham, Texas. The Lord blessed their union with the gift of two children, Elizabeth Johanna and Ethan Lamar. Malet was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church. By means of God''s grace through faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, we are certain that Malet now enjoys the peace of eternal life in Heaven. Malet was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Chester Markwardt, Sr. and Kervin Ervin Schmidt; and grandfathers-in-law and grandmother-in-law Ernest and Elizabeth Weatherby and Raymond Tielke. Surviving and mourning her loss are her husband, Lance, and their children, Elizabeth and Ethan; her parents, Chester and Karen Markwardt; her brother, Brian Markwardt and wife Cynthia; grandmothers, Alma Schmidt and Violet Markwardt; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ernest and Judy Weatherby; sister-in-law, Kristen Kestler and husband Bryan; sister-in-law, Melanie Baker and husband John David; nieces and nephews, Matthew and Andrew Markwardt, Conner and Kamryn Kestler and Dylan and Kylie Baker; grandmother-in-law, Eleanor Tielke; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Pallbearers: Bryan Kestler, John David Baker, Wil Schulz, Ronnie Wittner, Troy Klussmann, Kevin Mutscher, Neal Pieper and Jess Alexander. Honorary Pallbearers: Ginger Henderson, Heather Duron and Fernell Pieper. Memorials: Grace Lutheran Church School, Hospice Brazos Valley and Brenham ISD Education Foundation.
