Margaret Diane “Margie” Mertz, 66, of Burton, TX, went to her heavenly home on April 11, 2021 in Bryan, TX.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, April 15, 2021 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine with Deacon Cindy Robles officiating. Burial will follow at Latium Cemetery.

A visitation will be from 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at Memorial Oaks Chapel with the family present from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Margaret was born on June 25, 1954 in Brenham, TX to Albert Lee and Sylvia Olivia Leonhardt Mertz. She was baptized and confirmed at Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine.

Margaret was a life long member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine. She never met a stranger and was a very giving person. She loved and was loved by many people. Margie was a strong, courageous person who battled health-related issues for many years. Regardless of her struggles, she lit up a room with her smile and positivity. She loved to spend time with family and friends. She was a 1972 graduate of Burton High School. Margie retired from Brenham Wholesale Grocery after thirty-four years. She also worked for Appel Ford as a receptionist.

She is survived by her sisters, Kathryn Carroll of Burton, TX and Nina Herrmann of Cypress, TX; nieces and nephews, Tim Herrmann and wife Lisa, Gary Herrmann and wife Jackie, Tracy Herrmann and wife Jill, Clint Carroll, Kristina Newton and husband Den, and Cody Carroll and wife Raellen; great nieces and nephews, Ryan Herrmann and wife Casey, Garrett Herrmann and special friend Hannah, Luke Herrmann, Landon Herrmann, Logan Herrmann, Kyle Luhn, Allison, Heather, Casey, and Callum Carroll.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers-in-law, Alfred Herrmann,  A.V. Carroll, and Ross Zwernemann, and niece Christin Carroll Romero.

Serving as pallbearers will be her nephews.

Memorials may be directed to Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine Camping Fund.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 West Main Street, Brenham, TX 77833.
