Margaret Morehead

Margaret Lucille Morehead, 81, passed away April 18, 2011 at her residence. A graveside service is scheduled for Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at 10 a.m. in Wesley Brethren Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Born December 7, 1929 in Alta Loma, Texas to Alfred and Alvina Pomykal Conklin, she was baptized in Alta Loma Baptist Church. On August 17, 1948, Margaret married Wayne Leon Morehead in the same church. Mr. Morehead preceded her in death in 1997. Survivors include a son, James Leon Morehead, Sr. of Santa Fe, and daughters Catherine Margaret McMullin and husband Gary of Santa Fe and Mary Morehead Emick of Brenham; grandchildren: Kristine Melton, James L. Morehead II, Harold W. Emick IV, Amanda Van Horne, Robert W. Emick, and Becky Ferris; great-grandchildren: Rylie Ann, Avery Skye, Westen Gage, Kian, and Maddox. Preceding her in death were her parents, Alfred and Alvina Conklin; a son, Robert W. Morehead, husband, Wayne Morehead, a great grandson, Cameron Van Horne, as well as brothers, Alvin B. Conklin and Allen N. Conklin. Margaret was a loving wife to Wayne Morehead for 48 years, as well as a devoted mother to Robert, James, Catherine and Mary. She was a floral designer and owner of Santa Fe Floral Shop in Santa Fe, Tx. for ten years. Margaret was active in the Arcadia Baptist Church in Santa Fe.
