Margaret Mae Janes Boeker Schwettmann, 83, died October 15, 2017.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at Salem Lutheran Church of Salem, with Pastors Charles Parnell and Kris Brower officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Tuesday at Memorial Oaks Chapel.
Margaret Schwettmann was born May 14, 1934 in Austin Co. to Lad and Martha Dusek Janes. She was baptized October 7, 1934 in the Wesley CMB Church by Rev. Jadnoty Ceska Marovshych, and confirmed Dec. 5, 1948 by Rev. H. E. Beseda, Sr. at Wesley CMB Church. Her confirmation verse was Romans 5:1. She attended Wesley area schools, and later graduated from Brenham High School. She was married to Luther Paul Schwettmann on Nov 24, 1960 at Salem Lutheran Church by Pastor O.K. Oelke.
Margaret enjoyed working on the farm and being a homemaker. Listening to music, dancing and working in her flower garden were favorite pastimes. She also enjoyed sewing, fishing, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A member of Salem Lutheran Church, she held offices in the Women of the ELCA, taught Sunday School and Bible Schools, and participated in the church choir. At present, she was an associate member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Sandy Hill. She was a member of the Washington Co. Cattle Women.
Survivors include her husband, Luther Schwettmann; children Delbert Boeker and wife Terry, Peggy Kramer and husband Paul, and Allan Schwettmann; grandchildren: Chad Kramer and wife Melissa; Rachel Phife and husband Daniel; Drew Boeker; Taylor Torres and husband Tito; great-grandchildren: Amiah and Ainsley Phife, Cole and Kasch Kramer; sister, Marie Hensel; brother Alvin (Buddy) Janes; sisters-in-law Gene Hopmann, Hildagard Lange, Doris Bruedigan, and Wilma Boeker; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Alfred and Dorothy Schwettmann;
Margaret was preceded in death by her first husband, D. C. Boeker; granddaughter, Lindsey Boeker; her parents and several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
Serving as pallbearers are Chad Kramer, Daniel Phife, Drew Boeker, Tito Torres, Jason Janes, Russell Hensel, Mark Boeker, and Ernest Skarpa.
Memorials may be directed to Salem Lutheran Church or St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Sandy Hill.
