Margie Ruth Layton Reeves, 83, died Monday, August 13, 2007 in Kruse Memorial Lutheran Village in Brenham. Mrs. Reeves was born August 4, 1924 to Tom and Julia Mae Spence Layton. in Smithville, Texas. She married Eddie Reeves on May-19, whom she met at Camp Swift during WW II. After the war, they moved to San Benito, Tx., before settling in Brownville, Tx. where they made their home for many years. Margie and Eddie moved to San Antonio to be near their children and grandchildren and lived there until they moved to Brenham to be near their son and daughter-in-law. She loved being a wife & mother. She baked ALL the birthday cakes for her grandchildren, decorating them in their favorite themes. Margie loved to travel and visited her sisters and brothers frequently. Survivors include her husband Eddie Reeves; sons: Dr. William Reeves and wife Helen of Brenham; Tom Ed Reeves of Houston; Joe Bob Reeves and wife Janet of Boerne; grandchildren: William and Katie Reeves; Kathleen and Sean Vaughn; Allie and Annie Reeves; Kristen and Wes Haynes and Courtney Reeves; great-granddaughter Mary Jane Reeves; great-grandson William Van Reeves; brothers and sisters: Robert Perry & Angie Layton of New Braunfels; Peggy Strunk of Bakersfield, California; Powell and Dot Layton of Shreveport, La.; Tommy and Jadine Layton of San Marcos; Shirley Layton of Las Vegas, Nevada; sister-in-law Pauline Cooney of Los Fresnos and numerous nieces and nephews. The memorial service for Margie Ruth Reeves will be held at Brenham Church of Christ at 1:30 p.m., Friday, August 17, 2007 with Mr. Bill Graham officiating. The family wishes to thank all the faithful friends at Brenham Church of Christ and neighbors Joe and Virginia Dujka, who remain very supportive. Memorials may be given to Hospice of Brazos Valley-Brenham, or to the Brenham Church of Christ. Funeral arrangement are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main.
