Margo Teegardin

March 12, 1947 — October 26, 2017

Margo Teegardin passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2017. At 70 years of age, she left this world too soon, especially for her beloved children and grandchildren. While her family will always love and endlessly miss Margo, they take comfort in knowing that she is reunited with her first and only love, her husband, Norm, who proceeded her in death two years ago.

Margo was born on March 12, 1947, to Jacob and Neva Gearhart (preceded in death) and grew up in Edon, Ohio and Hamilton, Indiana. Margo and Norm married on February 1, 1964 and made their home in Hamilton. They shared over 50 years of marriage, three children—Jeni, Tricia, and Callie—three grandchildren, and infinite adventures together. Margo owned and operated the Hamilton News where she became an avid writer and was known for her April Fools’ Day editions where she “fooled” her readers every year with breaking press stories taking place in the small, rural town. Margo and Norm moved to Bonita Spring, Florida in 1996 where they enjoyed the sun, golf and entertaining friends and family. Margo worked by Norm’s side when they moved to Brenham, Texas in 2011 where they founded Bahia Game Ranch. When Norm passed away, Margo continued to work very hard for the life they had created together in Brenham. Margo was an active philanthropist with an ever-expanding heart for those around her. She loved to spend her time with the kids at Camp for All, a summer camp for kids with special needs, and was a board member at Zion Lutheran Church. She was a passionate artist and hosted many fundraising events at her home. Margo was the most beautiful soul. She was accepting, supportive, loving, hard-working, and radiant. Her laughter brightened the room and everyone who met her felt like they had known her for years. Margo was everyone’s best friend. She was the family’s role model, moral compass, and biggest cheerleader.

She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Miller and her husband, Tom Ingersoll, of Bonita Springs, Florida; daughter, Tricia Teegardin Edwards and her husband, Burke Edwards, of Austin, Texas; daughter, Callie Teegardin of Houston, Texas; granddaughter, Tatum Hill and her husband, Micah Hill, of Indianapolis, Indiana; granddaughter, Paxton Lewis of Salt Lake City, Utah; grandson, Reed Lewis of Bonita Springs, Florida; and sister, Rickie Jo Kohne and her husband Joseph Kohne, of Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Services will be held at United Methodist Church in Hamilton, Indiana, at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 10, 2017, and at Zion Lutheran Church in Brenham, Texas, at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 24, 2017. Memorial donations can be made to “Camp for All,” 6301 Rehburg Road, Burton Texas, 77835.
