Maria Soledad Pavon Romo

December 5, 1931 – October 23, 2017

Maria Soledad Pavon Romo passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on October 23, 2017. Soledad was born in Silao, Guanajuato (Mexico) on December 5, 1931. Soledad was the oldest of 8 children. She began working at a young age to support her siblings, a work ethic she instilled in her children and grandchildren. As a young woman, Soledad traveled from Laredo to Houston and worked as a nanny for one of Houston’s premier business leaders, the “Tijerina” family for numerous years before meeting and marrying Seferino Romo. They married in April 21, 1957 and moved to Kingsville Texas. After the birth of their first son, Seferino Romo, Jr they moved to Greenvine, Texas. Eventually the Romo family moved to Chappell Hill, Texas in 1960. While living in Chappell Hill they welcomed their sons, Daniel and Joel to the family. Soledad and her husband decided that Washington County was where they wanted to raise their 3 sons.

Soledad worked in the restaurant industry for many years, at times working several jobs to provide for her family. She and her husband always provided shelter, parenting, compassion and love for friends, strangers and anyone in need. Their home was always known for family gatherings or a place to stay for those new to Chappell Hill. She was a cherished member of Emmanuel Iglesia Pentecostes. She went on numerous mission trips with her friends at First Baptist Church Chappell Hill and always looked for the opportunity to share her love for Christ with others.

Soledad is survived by her sons: Seferino Romo Jr. and wife, Rose, Daniel Romo, Joel Romo and wife, Denise.

Grandchildren: Chrissy Romo, Adrian Romo, Timothy Selden, Megan Lance, and David Joel Romo, Robert Mueller, Johnson Mueller and Andrew Mueller.

Sisters: Virginia Velez, and Blanca Santana, and Emilia Quirino.

Numerous nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.

Pallbearers: George Gonzalez, Jerry Alvarez., David Quiroz, Andrew Mueller, Johnson Mueller, Robert Mueller, and Adrian Romo.

The family would like to thank Dr. Francisco Leal, Aubrey Eikenhorst, P.A., Dr. Mario Lamoglia, Baylor Scott and White College Station, and all the loving staff at Brenham Nursing and Rehab for their kind and loving care of Soledad.

Memorials can be given to the Chappell Hill Volunteer Fire Department, Immanuel Iglesia Pentecostes, or to the charity of your choice.
