Marie Schramm

Marie Lehmann Schramm, 96, widow of Frank Schramm, died November 25, 2012 at Gazebo Terrace Convalescent Center. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Thursday, November 29, 2012 in St. Paul Lutheran Church of Shelby, with Pastor Linda Mosley officiating. Burial will follow in the Shelby Cemetery. Marie was born March 9, 1916 in Sandtown to John Henry and Anna Marie Jahnz Lehmann. She was baptized in New Prospect and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Shelby. Educated in the New Prospect School, she married Frank Schramm on Sept. 29, 1935 in the home of her parents in the New Prospect Community. He preceded her in death in 2008. Frank and Marie moved to Shelby 70 years ago, where they farmed. Marie went to work in the late 1960''s at Sweetbriar Rest Home as a cook, and later at the old Bohne Hospital. She later worked at the Brenham State School, being promoted from a cook to a managerial position in the kitchen, retiring after 20 years of service there. Survivors include her daughter, Anna Marie Benado; son, Charlie Schramm; sister, Edith Pfeiffer, sisters-in-law Doris Schramm, Emma Schramm, Lorraine Holub, and Ida Webber; grandchildren: Abraham Benado, Dr. David Benado, Joseph Benado, Lisa Benado, Sheila Fozard and Mazol Benado, and 8 great-grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers are Edwin Breddin, Jr., Dr. Lonnie Hermann, Waldemer Schramm, Jr., Jeremy Schramm, Edgar Dudensing, Jr., Royce Dudensing, Herbert Schramm, Jr., and Nelson Aschenbeck. Memorials may be directed to the Keith Bartels Scholarship Fund, the Shelby Cemetery Association, Hospice Brazos Valley, or to any favorite charity.
