Marilyn Pagel Petru, 77, a life-long resident of Yoakum, TX, passed away February, 27, 2019 at Brenham Nursing and Rehab in Brenham, TX.
Funeral mass is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 9, 2019 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Yoakum, with Rev. Matthew H. Huehlefeld officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Yoakum.
Marilyn Pagel Petru was born in Yoakum on May 28, 1941. She married Raymond Petru on February 12, 1994, and is preceded in death by her husband, parents Elo H. Pagel and Paula Schaefer Pagel, and brother Carl Pagel.
Marilyn was a kind and youthful soul who dearly loved her family and friends. She had a joy for music, enjoyed singing, dancing, and dabbled with playing several instruments. She also liked to crochet and collected porcelain dolls. Marilyn was fond of cats and often cared for neighborhood strays. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and also a member of the German Club.
Survivors include her brother Patrick Pagel and wife Terrie of Brenham, sister-in-law, Mary Ann Pagel of North Richland Hills; nephews: Samuel Pagel and wife Angela of Canton, Michael Pagel and wife Heidi of North Richland Hills, Garner Pagel and wife Kate of Houston; nieces: Paula Carvelli and husband Frank of Houston, Janna Goodlett and husband Brandon of College Station; great-nieces and great-nephews. Also surviving are step-sons Raymond Petru, Jr. and Ronald Petru; step-daughter Dorothy Jasper and sister-in-law Elizabeth-Janak; as well as step-grandchildren ; and friend Iris Riske of Yoakum.
Funeral arrangements for Marilyn Pagel Petru are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main, Brenham. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Yoakum, TX.
