Marion M. Stegent, 57, of Chappell Hill, died Dec. 1, 2003, in Northwest Medical Center in Houston. Mr. Stegent was born May 24, 1946, in Brenham, TX, to Johnnie and Florence Dekowski Stegent. He was baptized and confirmed in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Chappell Hill. Mr. Stegent was a graduate of Brenham High School and served in the Army in Vietnam. He was an employee of Valmont for 15 years and was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Chappell Hill. Survivors include his daughter, Jennifer and Tim Tarnowski of Bellville; his parents, Johnnie and Florence Stegent of Chappell Hill; granddaughter, Kaitlyn Jeannie Tarnowski; brother, David Stegent of Chappell Hill; sisters, Suzie Klodzinski of Navasota and Florence Clay of Brenham; and numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral Mass will be offered at 10:00 a.m. Friday, Dec. 5 in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Chappell Hill with Father Eugene Shepard, celebrant. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4 in Memorial Oaks Chapel by Deacon Dan Nowak. Pallbearers will be Mark Murphy, Jerry Niemeyer, Lloyd Sutton, Bennie Daricek, Jerry Holub, Mike Kopycinski, Donovan Pavlock and Buddy Galik. Honorary pallbearers will be Bennie Muzyka, David Stegent and Tim Murski. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., in Brenham.
