Marjorie Holdt

Marjorie Louise Holdt, 76, of Brenham, died May 29, 2006 in Trinity Medical Center in Brenham. Mrs. Holdt was born Jan. 20, 1930 in the Live Oak Hill community of Washington County, Texas to Earnest and Rosena Boortz Hahn. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill and was educated in Live Oak Hill School. In 1952, she was married to Milton Chervenka, and to their union a daughter, Vivian, was born. On June 21, 1980, she was married to Wilbert Holdt. She worked many years as an Avon representative and then at the state school. Mrs. Holdt''s hobbies were many and her most precious times were spent with her family, especially her beloved grandson, Austin Aaron Leedy. She was a member of St. Paul''s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brenham. Survivors include her husband of 25 years, Wilbert Holdt of Brenham; daughter, Vivian Chervenka Leedy of Brenham; step-daughter, Diane Fox and husband John of Pasadena; step-son, Kenneth Holdt and wife Sylvia of Kingwood; grandson, Austin Aaron Leedy; step-grandchildren, Kevin and Kerrie Holdt, Jennifer Fox and Laura Fox and fiancé Brad Waller; sister, Lillie Hahn; and nieces, Pat Schroeder and husband Dennis of Prairie Hill, Geneva Ehlert of Prairie Hill and Sue Wernecke and husband Dr. Robert of Austin. Mrs. Holdt was preceded in death by her parents; beloved sister, Esther Ehlert; and nephew, Albert Ehlert III. The family will receive visitors from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 30 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. The funeral service will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 31 in St. Paul''s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brenham with Pastors Lawrence Bade and Kim Little-Brooks officiating. Interment will be in Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham. Pallbearers will be Floyd Grebe, Wayne Ehlert, Dennis Schroeder, Robert Wernecke, Scott Wernecke and Howard Grebe. Honorary pallbearers will be her great-nieces and great-nephews. Memorials may be given to St. Paul''s TV and Radio Ministry or Brazos Valley Parkinson''s Disease Foundation. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., in Brenham.
