Marjorie Kennedy

Marjorie "Marj" Hopkins Potter Kennedy, 87, of Brenham, died peacefully in her sleep May 4, 2009 in Trinity Medical Center in Brenham, Tx. Born June 8, 1921 to Lewis Merle and Mildred BarbaraHopkins Potter in Bradford Woods in Marshal Township, Pennsylvania, Mrs.Kennedy was a registered nurse. She served her country in the U. S. Army during World War II in the Army Nurse Corps. Her service on hospital ships in the Pacific and the Atlantic gave her a life-long love of the sea. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, the American Red Cross, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, American Legion, the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion, and was an active member of the Fun Seeker Group at First Christian Church. Marj very much loved her family, her friends, travel, adventure, and fun. She was known for her sense of humor and friendliness to all she encountered. Survivors include daughters Patricia "Paloma" Kennedy of Austin, Barbara Kennedy of Tacoma, Washington, Mary "Buffy" Kennedy and Mike Sandoval of Conroe, Janie Kennedy Fontenot and husband Cliff of Brenham, and daughter by choice Margie Miller Orr of Round Rock; brother and sister-in-law Robert and Judy Potter of Fairview Heights, Il; sister Sue Potter Hershey of Connecticut, grandchildren: Adam J. Sandoval, Katie Laird, Jessica L. Fontenot, Taylor K. Fontenot, Edward Grigassy, and Amanda Norwood, and two great-grandchildren, Ella Sandoval Laird and Isabella Kadas. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Lewis Potter. Visitation will be Saturday, May 9th 2009 from 2-3pm, followed by a memorial service from 3-4pm at Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W.
