Martha Mclemore

Martha Frances "Marti" House McLemore, 59, died March 2, 2015 in Brenham. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Friday, March 6, 2015, at First United Methodist Church in Brenham, with Rev. Jon Stouffer and Rev. C. Kay Reed officiating. Burial will be in the Phillipsburg Methodist Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday evening at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Marti was born in Sealy, Tx. on July 8, 1955 to Jim Tom and Lydia Estelle Kitzman House. Marti graduated from Brenham High School in 1973. She was involved in the Brenham High band and the drama club. She was a lifelong member of Zionsville 4-H, where her main project was showing sheep. She graduated from Blinn College in 1975. A 1978 graduate of Texas A&M University, Marti taught school in Brenham I.S.D. for 27 years, specializing in English and ESL classes. She also taught in Brookshire and Bremond, where she directed many student plays. She also taught at St. Joseph in Bryan. Marti loved teaching, and truly cared for each and every one of her students, many of whom have kept in touch with her over the years. She was a member of Retired Teachers Association, the Aggie Moms Club, and Bosom Buddies. Over the past few years, she enjoyed keeping score and record books for volleyball, basketball and football, and was always there to help with Little League tournaments. Marti was a 40 year member of FUMC Brenham, and a life-long Methodist. She played handbells, attended Sunday School, and was a member of United Methodist Women. Survivors include her mother, Lydia House of Brenham; son Philip Jennifer McLemore of Bryan; daughters Rachel Cole Markham of College Station and Emily Tyler Stilson of Wheelock, Texas; grandchildren: Jackson Markham, Wesley Markham, Marshall Markham and Rose Markham; brother Tom Jessica House and a sister, Ann Dan Jurden of Brenham. Also surviving are nieces LeeAnn Jurden, Lane Howard Morgan, Kara Beth Jurden, Kelly Jurden, Pam House, Terry House and Laura House. She is also survived by numerous loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Jim Tom House. Serving as pallbearers are Robert Kitzman, Charley Kitzman, Stan Kitzman, Danny Kitzman, Colton Kitzman, Cason Kitzman, Cody Kitzman, Sasha Kitzman and Jimmy Sanders. Memorials may be directed to First United Methodist Church of Brenham or the Bosom Buddy organization. Funeral arrangements for Martha Frances McLemore are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W.
