Martha Thornbrough

Martha Thornbrough, 82, widow of Ralph Thornbrough, died December 1, 2009 in St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan. Mrs. Thornbrough was born in Steems, Mississippi on September 7, 1927 to Herman Henry and Louise Bell Vaughn. She married Ralph Thornbrough on May 17, 1947 in Columbus, MS. She was employed at Blinn College, and was a member of the Church of Christ of Brenham. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, David and Janna Thornbrough of Brenham; daughter and son-in-law Deby and Billy Conner of Old Washington; three grandsons: Casey Conner of Brenham, Christopher and Andy Thornbrough of Oklahoma City, OK; three great-grandchildren: Christian and Chelsea Conner, and A. J. Thornbrough . Also surviving are her sisters, Herma Jean Jones, Betty Hudson, and Haidyce Vaughn, and a brother, Franklin "Sonny" Vaughn. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Ralph Thornbrough; grandson David Conner, and a sister, Lena S. Prater. Funeral services for Martha Thornbrough will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 4, 2009 at Brenham Church of Christ with Doug Hall officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives Thursday evening at Memorial Oaks Chapel from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed to Brenham Church of Christ or to Hospice Brazos Valley.
