Marvin Jurries

Marvin Everett Jurries, 81, husband of Lois (Thomas) Jurries, passed away at his home on August 18, 2021.

A private family graveside service will be held on Friday, August 27 at 10am, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine with Deacon Cindy Robles officiating.

A visitation will be held from 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 25, 2021 and Thursday, August 26, 2021 at Memorial Oaks Chapel.

Marvin was born December 20, 1939 to Herbert and Thelma Boehnemann Jurries.  On October 7, 1961 he married Lois in Burton, Texas.  He was her soulmate of almost 60 years, best friend, and most recently her caregiver.

Marvin was a long time educator in Brenham where he taught 6th grade science. He loved all of his students. After his retirement from the school district he continued to work at Brookshire Brothers where he recently retired from in 2020 at the age of 80.  He was never ready to give up his contact with people.

Marvin had a special place in his heart for his wife, kids, and especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  There was a standing invitation every Sunday for a five-course lunch for whoever could make it.  His family will cherish all the memories they made with him through his life.  He will be missed dearly.

Marvin is survived by his wife Lois; children, Brian and Jennifer Jurries, Sherry and Gary Krinke, and Sheila and Greg Rolling; brother, Royce Jurries; Sister and Brother-in-law, Sandra and Richard Hons; grandchildren, Tiffany Whitehead and Shawn Marsilio, Adam and Marisol Whitehead, Brayten Rolling, Trinten Rolling, Darian and Edwin Cuevas, Madison Averitt, and Drake Averitt; great grandchildren, Katryna Allen, Karina Whitehead, Jaiden Cuevas, and Ariana Cuevas.

Serving as pallbearers are Adam Whitehead, Trinten Rolling, Brayten Rolling, Drake Averitt, Cacy Schiller, and Shawn Marsilio.

Memorials can be given to Greenvine Emmanuel Lutheran Church or charity of choice.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main Street in Brenham.
