MARY HELEN ALEXANDER BARTLETT, 99, of Brenham, Texas peacefully passed away on Easter Sunday, April 4, 2021 at Scott and White Hospital in Brenham with family and friends by her side. She moved from Houston to Brenham seven years ago to be near family. Mary Helen was born on April 15, 1921 in Pearland, Texas, the third of 10 children to Charles Hansbrough and Helen Drisdale Alexander. Mary was just 11 days from her 100th birthday.
Mary was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Houston for 66 years where she and her beloved Boykin were married. She and Boykin loved to explore with friends and family and traveled to South and Central America, Europe, Russia, and almost every state in the U.S. Mary and Boykin studied art; and both enjoyed painting as a hobby. Their particular love was their farm in Chappell Hill that served as the gathering place for family and friends for most holidays. They lived there until Boykin became ill.
Mary was involved in the Women of the Church and served on many committees. She and Boykin taught Sunday school and belonged to the Couples Class and Fellowship Class. Mary was also highly involved in fundraising for the Houston Symphony, The Heritage Society, and the Museum of Fine Arts. Mary was involved in her family’s oil businesses and, as a Realtor, in real estate development. She was active in the Harris County Republican Women and was a member the Washington County Republican Club. She loved politics! Most of all she loved people. She never had enough friends.
She is survived by her daughter Helen Hink of Chappell Hill, Texas and son William T. Bartlett and wife Katherine of Pearland, her grandchildren Fred B. Hink and wife Kirsten of Houston, Geoffrey Hink of Chappell Hill, Thomas Bartlett and wife Kellie of Austin, Margaret Bartlett of Houston, and her great grandchildren Christina Hink of London, England, Harrison Hink of Houston, and Henry Bartlett of Austin. She is also survived by sisters Sue Morrison of Austin, and Pat Wood and husband John of Waco, and sister-in-law Bobbie Jo Alexander of Brenham; additionally, there are numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

Hink, grandson Warren Hink, her brothers Jack Alexander and wife Francis, John Alexander and wife Sally, Tom Alexander and wife Bettye, Bob Alexander and wife Dolores, Jud Alexander, and sisters Martha Crouch and husband Guy, and Elizabeth Nisbet and husband John, and brother-in-law Walter Morrison.
