Mary Brandt

Mary Nell (Young) Brandt, 89, of Chappell Hill, passed away Saturday, June 11, 2016. She was born May 29, 1927 to Floyd Hobart Young and Nell Frances Young in Houston, Texas. On Sept. 24, 1948, she was married to Frederick Otto Brandt.

Mary Nell was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frederick Otto Brandt; brothers James and Milton Young, and sister, Jo Ann (Young) McAtee.

Memberships included the Chappell Hill United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, the Chappell Hill Historical Society, and Chamber of Commerce. She was active annually in the Bluebonnet and Scarecrow Festivals, as well as the July 4 Parade. She was an avid bird watcher, and was ready to share her interest with others. Mary was a joyous, energetic and fun person. Her ready smile and warm personality endeared her to her friends. She offered hugs, wisdom, and shared the Light of Christ with all who knew her.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Marsha Brandt Beckermann and husband, Raymond; son, Dave Brandt and wife, Pam; her grandchildren: Christopher Beckermann, his wife Michelle and great-grandson, Brandt Wesley Beckermann; Daniel Beckermann and wife, Amber; Crystal Brandt Hall and husband Jeffrey; her beloved nieces and nephews: Gary Young, Gilbert Young, Brian Young, Mary Ann (Young) Harper, Jayne (Young) Hill, Nancy (McAtee) McGrade, John McAtee, Kathie Moody, Gary Moody and Jean (Moody) Reed.

A Celebration of Life service is scheduled for 1:30 p.m., Friday, June 17, 2016 at Chappell Hill United Methodist Church. Her family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorials to Chappell Hill United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 285, Chappell Hill, Texas, 77426.
