Mary Frances Marek of Brenham entered eternal life August 23, 2019. Mary was born in Saginaw, Michigan on June 7,1957. She grew up in Michigan, Georgia, Ohio, and moved to Texas with her family in 1977.
Mary completed her nursing education in Galveston where she met her husband, Bobby. She worked as a registered nurse until her first child was born. When her youngest child was in kindergarten, she started working as a teacher’s aid at the St. Paul’s Christian Day school and as her health began to change, she transitioned to a new role as the school librarian and school nurse. Mary placed thousands of children's books in the library and was passionate about reading to children. She devoted her time to building a children’s library at the Day School. Many students remember her reading and acting out the stories with puppets in the school library. Although she had health issues for many years, struggling with chronic pain, she lived her life to be a blessing to her family, friends, and in her later years, her grandchildren.
Mary is survived by her husband of forty years, Bobby; by her children Daniel, Matthew, and Andrew Marek, and Sarah Cain; son in law, Nathan Cain; and daughters in law Jill and Tiffany Marek; parents Bob and Barbara Lundahl; brother and sister in law David and Barbara Lundahl; and grandchildren Benjamin, Mia, Camden, Logan, and Lydia.
Mary and Bobby are thankful for the care of her physician, Dr. Frank Leal, nurse Tammy Bugai and many of the staff at the Brenham Clinic. They are also thankful for her family at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
Visitation will be at Memorial Oaks from 6-8 pm on Tuesday, August 27, 2019. Memorial service will be at 11 am on Wednesday, August 28,2019 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Brenham with Pastor Phil Fenton officiating.
The family wishes that if anyone desires to give a memorial to give a children’s book to St. Paul’s Christian Day School in Mary’s name.
