She was always a witness to her Christian faith as she led bible studies in her home at great risk in the Muslim countries.
After they left Libya, Mary and Jim settled in Quitman, Texas where they lived out their early retirement years. Their later years were spent in Brenham, Texas at Kruse Village. They became members of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in the William Penn community outside of Brenham. Jim was involved with the Steven Ministries program and volunteered at area nursing homes. Mary was a member of the “Sonshine” group of ladies at Bethlehem who visited the home bound and nursing home residents each month. She also let Bible studies that met in her home. She was an avid bridge player. Mary’s great love was Garden club. She came to Brenham as a very established master flower show judge with the Texas and National Garden Clubs.
