Mary Schaefer

Mary Ann Schaefer, 56, of Brenham, died March 1, 2005, at her residence. Mrs. Schaefer was born Aug. 11, 1948, in Washington County, Texas. She was baptized and confirmed in St. Mary s Catholic Church in Brenham. On May 29, 1965, she married Edgar Lee Schaefer. Mrs. Schaefer was a loving wife and grandmother, who took a special joy in taking care of her three grandchildren, Laurie, Joe and Adam. She also took great pride in her flowers and gardening. Her wonderful sense of humor always kept you laughing. She will live in our hearts always. Survivors include her husband, Edgar Lee Schaefer of Brenham; sons and daughter-in-law, Johnnie and Teresa Schaefer and Jimmy Schaefer, all of Brenham; grandchildren, Adam and Joe Schaefer and Laurie Schaefer; mother, Theresa Meschwitz of Brenham; sister, Barbara Portales and husband Ray of Bryan; and her special little dog, Betsy. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Ella Mary Meschwitz; grandfather, John Meschwitz; aunts, Janie Meschwitz, Dorothy Joswiak, Emily Minor, Gertrude Paul, Nellie Meschwitz and Margaret Meschwitz; and uncles, Billy Meschwitz and Julian Meschwitz. The funeral Mass will be offered at 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 4 in St. Mary s Catholic Church in Brenham with Father David Ivey, celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Brenham. The family will receive visitors beginning at 5:00 p.m. Thursday, March 3, with the rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. in Memorial Oaks Chapel. Pallbearers will be Eugene Ponch Meschwitz, Jesse Meschwitz, Anthony Ligues, Danny Castenada, Danny Cendalski and Patrick Chovanec. Honorary pallbearers will be Adam Schaefer, Joseph Schaefer and Laurie Schaefer. Memorials may be given to St. Mary s Memorial Fund or Hospice Brazos Valley. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., in Brenham.
