Maude Dean Rich

Maude Dean Rich, age 86, passed away on July 6, 2023. Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 – 7:00 pm on Sunday, July 9. Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm on Monday, July 10. Both events will be at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Pastor Corby Brizendine will officiate. Burial will follow at Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Maude Dean was born on February 15, 1937, in Bryan, TX to parents Frederick A. Riggs and Mary Rebeckie (Hayes) Riggs. She was united in marriage to Berton “Bill” Rich on July 2, 1954, and they were blessed with three children. Maude Dean’s family was her pride and joy, and she delighted in being a Mom, Nana, and Great-Nana.

Maude Dean was an incredibly talented and distinguished quilter. She won grand champion in the Washington County Fair numerous times for her work. Maude Dean was a devoted Christian and was an active member of First Baptist Church of Somerville. She was known for her sweet and kind nature, and her love of anything purple. Maude Dean will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and church family.

Maude Dean is preceded in death by her husband, Bill; her parents; and brother Bobby Riggs.

Surviving family includes daughter and son-in-law Sharon Rich and Billy Parker; son and daughter-in-law Billy Rich and Sheri Rich; daughter and son-in-law Karen Heckmann and Zeb Heckmann; grandchildren Deanna Gober, Brian Case, Tiffanie Muske, Bradley Rich, Jacob Heckmann, Andrew Heckmann; great-grandchildren Bailey Gober, Madison Gober, Savannah Gober, Christopher Case, John Fritz, Kinsleigh Fritz, Avery Feist, and Kinlie Muske; and her sister Vonnie Pauling.

Pallbearers will be Bailey Gober, John Fritz, Bradley Rich, Jacob Heckmann, Andrew Heckmann, Christopher Case, Devin Muske, and Brandon Gober.
