Mavis Kaminczak

Mavis Lucille Kaminczak, 81, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2024, in Brenham, Texas.

She was born on January 23, 1943, in Houston, Texas, to John Terrell and Jessie Lucille Slaughter.

Mavis spent her childhood in Houston and graduated from Jefferson Davis High School in 1961.

Following graduation, she married Edmund Pettus Mayfield, Jr., with whom she had two daughters, Annette and Sandra Mayfield. As a hairdresser, Mavis made many cherished friends in the Houston area.

In 1970, Mavis married Tom Kaminczak. Together, they had two children, Steve and Kathy Kaminczak. The couple founded and successfully ran Budget Plumbing Company for over 40 years. Mavis also dedicated over 30 years of her life to working at Tomball Regional Hospital as the Outpatient Schedule Coordinator.

Mavis spent her later years in Brenham, Texas, doing what she loved most. She was passionate about gardening and could often be found outdoors, tending to her flowers and trees. Inside her home, Mavis enjoyed cooking for her loved ones, drawing from her vast collection of cookbooks. Recently, she had discovered a new passion for YouTube cooking channels.

Mavis is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Tom; children, Steve Kaminczak and wife, Laura Hughes; Kathy Kaminczak, Annette Mayfield and Sandra Mayfield; grandson, Garrett Hughes; brother, John Terrell Slaughter, Jr. and wife Jane; and nephews, Scott Terrell Slaughter and John David Slaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Graveside services for Mavis Lucille Kaminczak will be held on Monday, October 14, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church Cemetery in Chappell Hill, Texas, with Fr. Thaddeus Tabak officiating.
