Maxine Rudloff

Maxine Jane (Schlabach) Rudloff, 73, wife of Wendel Rudloff, passed away June 9, 2016 at Scott and White Hospital in Brenham.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Monday, June 13, 2016 at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Shelby, with Pastor John David Nedbalek officiating. Burial will be in Shelby Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Sunday at Memorial Oaks Chapel.

Maxine was born April 28, 1943 in Shelby, Texas, to Harry and Elsa (Krebs) Schlabach. She was baptized July 25, 1943 by Rev. Julius Bosshard at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Shelby, and confirmed there on April 14, 1957 by Rev. W. E. Doerr .

After graduating as class valedictorian from Bellville High School in 1961, Maxine married Wendell Rudloff on July 14, 1962 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Shelby. She then was employed as a teacher's aide and clerical aide for the El Campo I.S.D., as church secretary at Christ Lutheran Church in El Campo, as a teacher's aide for the Fayetteville ISD, and after retirement, she worked as a substitute teacher for Fayetteville ISD and West End School in Industry.

Maxine was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Shelby, Shelby Lodge #28 of the Sons of Herman, and served as treasurer of the Shelby VFD for many years. She also was active in the Meals On Wheels program. A master baker, her cookies were loved by many in numerous counties.

She is survived by Wendel Rudloff, her beloved husband of 53 years; son and daughter-in-law, Darren and Nicole Rudloff of Cheyenne, WY; daughter and son-in-law Renee and Scott Baker of Grand Prairie; grandchildren: Jacy Marie Rudloff of Cheyenne, WY., and Henley and Elsa Baker of Grand Prairie, Tx.; Also surviving are her sister and brother-in-law Waldine and Glenroy Ebner of Giddings; sisters-in-law Elvera Rudloff of Houston, Ruby Rudloff of Chilton, and Dolores Zickuhr of Columbus; brother-in-law Mike Koepnick of Schulenburg, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Elsa Schlabach; parents-in-law Ben and Elsa Rudloff; brothers-in-law John Zickuhr, Perry Rudloff, and Burnie Rudloff, and sister-in-law, Evelyn Koepnick.

Serving as pallbearers are James Merta, Willie Aschenbeck, Mike Schlabach, Stephen Rabb, Gayle Krebs, Robert Schlabach, Arno Krebs, Jr., and Derrick Jasek. Honorary pallbearers are Debra Sue Bailey, grandchildren Jacy Rudloff and Henley and Elsa Baker, and special friend, Zac Merta.

Memorials may be directed to St. Paul Lutheran Church of Shelby.
