Maxwell Weidner

Maxwell Weidner, 92, of Brenham passed away on Monday, September 23, 2024 at Brenham Nursing and Rehab. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 30, 2024 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. The Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at Eben Ezer Lutheran Church with Pastor John Van Haneghan officiating. Burial will take place at 2:00 p.m. at Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Maxwell was born to Max and Meta (Lorenz) Weidner on November 23, 1931 in Fort Bend County in the Beazley - Needville area where his family resided on a cotton farm.He and his family worshiped and attended Sunday School at Hope Lutheran Church in Beazley, Tx. He attended Modena School located between Beazley and Needville Tx. He was a graduate of Blinn College majoring in Business Administration and Finance. He also attended Sam Houston college in Huntsville. He worked at the US Post Office for 33 years and after retiring he and his wife did landscaping for individuals and Germania. Some of his favorite things to do were traveling, camping, fishing. He loved music and enjoyed attending sporting events of his children and grandchildren and watching the Brenham Cubs play Baseball. He and his wife loved to collect antiques.

Maxwell married his love Martha Jean Seidel on November 25, 1955 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. They raised a family of 3, Allan, Mark and Donna. He served his country in the military for 2 years during the Korean War where he was a cook. Maxwell was a Sunday School Teacher at Eben Ezer Lutheran Church where he served as Superintendent for 8 years. He along with his wife Martha were instrumental in helping organize Lake Somerville Christian Ministry and served as Coordinator for 10 years. Doing the outdoor worship services provided an opportunity to have a beautiful service with prayer, scripture, bible message and joyful singing at both Yegua and Rocky Creek Parks during the months of June, July and August.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years , Martha Jean; sons and daughters-in-law, Allan and Heidi Weidner, Mark and Diane Weidner; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Greg Bridges. Brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Ida Mae Weidner; sister-in-law, Grace Behnke; grandchildren, Madison Bridges and special friend, Favio Nazareno, Eric and Lexie Bridges, Matthew and Amy Cox; great-grandchildren, Eloise Bridges, Courtney Cox and Ty Cox and great-great-grandchild, Joy Zamara, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Max and Meta Weidner; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Arnold and Alvina Seidel and brother-in-law, Sam Behnke.

Pallbearers will be Robert Warmke, Matthew Danesi, Peyton Hauerland, Donnie Johnson, Brian Fritz and Jon Perkins.

In lieu of flowers memorials to honor Maxwell can be given to Eben Ezer Lutheran Church or a charity of your choosing.
