Melinda Linny Durham, 53, passed away after a lengthy illness on September 15, 2010 in St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan. Melinda was born in Houston on July 12, 1957 to George "Babe" Andrew Durham and Lois Matheny Durham. She graduated from Spring Woods High School in Houston and attended Sheridan College in Wyoming. Linny worked for many years in the horse industry for Turnbow Quarterhorses, Stallions Unlimited, and Act II Arabians. She later worked for HEB, Brookshire Bros. and Subway. With a passion for all animals, especially horses, dogs and cats, Linny had a special love for her rat terrier dogs, "Festus" and "Barney", and her cats "Sylvester" , "Momma Kitty", and the little kitty gang. She is survived by her special friend, Alan Flasowski; her son, Patrick Garner; three grandchildren; brother, Dana Durham; half-brother, Buddy Durham; half-sister, Cheryl Durham; nephew Heath Durham, niece Holly Durham Lehde and husband Lance, as well as numerous relatives and friends. A memorial service for Melinda "Linny" Durham will be held Thursday, September 23, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel with Pastor Virgil Pecht officiating. Visitation with family will take place prior to the service from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed to Connie Animal Clinic or to a charity of your choice.
