Melvin A. Grimm, 85, husband of Nancy Allsip Grimm, died September 26, 2009 in College Station Medical Center. Mr. Grimm was born June 8, 1924 to Otto and Ella Wittner Grimm. He was baptized September 14, 1924 in Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine by Rev. Koeper, and confirmed on September 24, 1938 in St. Paul''s Lutheran Church of Brenham by Rev. Arthur Hartman. A graduate of Brenham High School, he served in the military from March, 1943 through November, 1945 in the Army Air Force, 351st Bomber Group, 8th Air Force. He was awarded the Presidential Citation – Air Medal 3 Clusters. While serving overseas, he flew fourteen missions and was awarded the Air Medal and Unit Citation. He as also the recipient of the European Theater Ribbon with two campaign stars. On December 20, 1945, he was married to Nancy Allsip in Grace Lutheran Church by Rev. T. H. Graalmann. He was retired from American National Insurance Co. A member of Grace Lutheran Church, Mr. Grimm was also a member of the American Legion, Buddy Wright Post #48, the James F. Dillon Post 7104 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Sons of Herman Lodge 6, the Washington Co. Sheriff''s Organization, and was active in the Boy Scouts of America. Survivors include his wife, Nancy Grimm; son Jack Grimm and wife Tami; granddaughter Lindsey Camp and husband Jentry; grandson John H. Grimm; step-granddaughter Megan McWilliams and step-grandson, Mason McWilliams, and great-granddaughter, Karsyn Camp. Preceding him in death were his parents, Otto and Ella Grimm; sisters Dellie Muegge and Norma Grimm, brother Otis Grimm, and nephew Elton G. Tonn. Funeral services for Melvin A. Grimm will be held Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in Grace Lutheran Church with Pastors Matthew Jacobs and William Holzer officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery. Visitation with family and friends will take place Tuesday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Serving as pallbearers are Victor Arlitt, Kirby Mueller, Mike Vader, Bobby Bormann, Jimmy Maurer and Perry Lee Thomas. Honorary pallbearers are Ran Newman, James Proske, Rodney Williams, and Jack McClendon. Memorials may be directed to Grace Lutheran Church, 1212 W. Jefferson, Brenham, Tx. 77833.
