Melvin Tiemann

Melvin Tiemann, 87, husband of Margaret Tiemann, of Brenham, died September 16, 2007 in Brenham Rest Home. Mr. Tiemann was born February 22, 1920 in Austin County to Fritz and Emilie Loesch Tiemann. He was baptized April 18, 1920 by Rev. H. Poehlmann at St. James Lutheran Church of New Wehdem, and confirmed April 5, 1936 by Rev. R. A. Schmidt, also at St. James Lutheran Church of New Wehdem. On March 16, 1947, he married Margaret Kuhlmann at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Phillipsburg. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Tiemann was a painting contractor. He was a lifetime member of St. James Lutheran Church of New Wehdem, where he served on the church council; a past member of New Wehdem-Pleasant Hill Shooting Club, and a past member of American Legion and Disabled American Veterans. He is survived by his wife, Margaret; sons and daughters-in-law Rudy and Linda Tiemann of Brenham, Bishop Ray and Deborah Tiemann of Fredericksburg, and Ralph and Debbie Tiemann of Brenham; daughter and son-in-law Jeanelle and Jerry Moreno of Brenham; sister Verlin Boecker of Brenham, sisters-in-law Gladys Tiemann of Bellville, and May Dell Kuhlmann of Brenham; grandchildren Christopher Tiemann and friend Amy Schwarze; Valerie Tiemann Ross and husband Ryan; Daniel Tiemann, Rebecca Tiemann, Brian Tiemann and wife Natalie, Michael Tiemann and fiance Heather Peschel, Christina Moreno and friend Adam Koehn, Jeremy Moreno and friend Jessica Savarino, Anthony Moreno, and Micayla Moreno; great-grandchildren Hailey Nicole Ross and Ava Rose Tiemann, as well as many nieces and nephews. Mr. Tiemann was preceded in death by his parents; grandson Aaron Paul Tiemann; sisters and brothers-in-law Selma and Paul Sander; Emma and Erwin Sander; Minnie and Dan Weiss; brothers Henry Tiemann and Theo Tiemann, and brother-in-law Leroy Boecker; Harold Kuhlmann and Howard Kuhlmann, and sister-in-law, Doris Kuhlmann Daniels. Funeral services for Melvin Tiemann will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 19 at St. James Lutheran Church of New Wehdem with Pastor Charles Parnell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation with family and friends will take place Tuesday, September 18 at Memorial Oaks Chapel from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. His grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
