Meta Marburger

Meta Emma Marburger, a longtime resident of Brenham, died on Friday night March 12, 2004 in Gazebo Terrace Convalescent Center at the age of 90. Born in Burton, Washington County, Texas on January 23, 1914, Meta was a daughter of Adolph & Martha Arndt Alaminsky. She was baptized in St. John''s United Church of Christ in Burton. She was later confirmed in Martin Luther Lutheran Church of Carmine where she was also united in matrimony to Benjamin H. Marburger on October 22, 1933. Mrs. Marburger was a cook in the dietary department of St. Jude Hospital in Brenham for many years. She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Burton. Meta is survived by her husband, Benjamin, of Brenham; her son and daughter-in-law, Elmer & Dorine Marburger of Brenham; her grandchildren and their spouses: Lisa & Craig Conner, Lori & Rodney Wittner and Michael & Jo Ann Marburger. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren: Katelyn Wittner, Kathryn Wittner, Emily Conner and Matthew Conner. She is further survived by two sisters, Lorina Marburger and Evelyn Young. Mrs. Marburger is preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, a sister and a brother. The funeral service will be held in St. John''s United Church of Christ in Burton on Monday, March 15, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Greg Felder officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham. Memorials may be given to either St. John''s United Church of Christ in Burton or to Hospice-Brenham.
