Meta Mutscher

April 27, 1918 — November 23, 2016

God in his infinite wisdom and mercy called Meta Gaskamp Mutscher to her eternal home on the evening of November 23rd, 2016.

Born on April 27, 1918 to Otto and Emma (Rosenbaum) Gaskamp, Meta grew up in the Wm Penn Community of Washington County. She was baptized June 1, 1918, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Wm. Penn by Pastor Alfred Bohot and confirmed there on April 9, 1934 by Pastor C. J. Appel. She graduated from school in Wm. Penn. On November 18, 1937, she married Herbert Mutscher and they were blessed with 73 years of marriage and three children.

She was a seamstress for Nat's Tiny Tots, and then worked for Sealy Mattress until her retirement. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, where she was a member of the Ladies Afternoon LWML, the Sewing Circle. She also sang in the choir.

Family was very important to her, and she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed cooking for them. Playing cards, dominoes and quilting were her favorite pastimes.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Mutscher; her parents, brothers and sisters and their spouses: Henry and Alma Gaskamp, Louise Gaskamp, Jim and Thekla Lueckemeyer, Herbert and Hattie Gaskamp, Walter Gaskamp, Alfred and Nelda Gaskamp, Melvin Gaskamp, Otto Gaskamp, Jr. and Monroe and Lillian Gaskamp; brothers - in-law and sisters-in-law Gus and Gertie Mutscher, Gertrude and Willie Klussmann, Henry Klussmann, Rosie and Robert Lenz, Lydia and Herman Mertins, and Louise Klussmann and son-in-law, Norman Prenzler.

She is survived by daughter, Rose Marie Prenzler; son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Sarita Mutscher; daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Wayne Kuenstler, and three grandsons and spouses: Don and Marie Prenzler, Kevin and Renee Mutscher, and Brian Kuenstler and Michael Huggins; three great-grandsons: Matthew Prenzler and fiancé Courtney Thonsgaard, Nicholas Prenzler and Kaden Mutscher. She is also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law Annie Gaskamp, Pearl Gaskamp, Raymond and Ann Gaskamp, Clarence and Bernice Gaskamp, Florence Gaskamp, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation with the family will be from 5 until 7 p.m. on Sunday, November 27, 2016 at Memorial Oaks Chapel.

The funeral service will be held Monday, November 28, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, with Rev. Matthew Jacobs and Rev. William Holzer officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Grace Lutheran Church, 1212 W. Jefferson St., Brenham, Tx. 77833, Hospice Brazos Valley, or the charity of your choice.

Pallbearers will be Delwin Gaskamp, Terry Lueckemeyer, Charles Gaskamp, Eugene Gaskamp, Roger Gaskamp, Greg Gaskamp, Robert Loflin, Tommy Gaskamp, and Doyle Gaskamp.
