Michael Christopher Charles Holder, 68, of Brenham was called home on Sunday, January 19, 2025 after a courageous and tough battle with cancer. He went peacefully from the comfort of his home in the presence of his wife, Susie, by his side.
Michael was born in Brenham, Texas to Clarence Donald Holder and Mary L. Horak on November 18, 1956. Michael was baptized, confirmed, and received his first communion at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brenham, where he also served as an altar boy and attended school for a period of time.
He met his forever love in 1995. Together, Michael and Susie were united in marriage on October 3, 2015, at St Matthew's Lutheran Church of Sandy Hill. Michael and Susie spent many wonderful years together. Even through Michael’s many health issues, their love for one another never failed.
Michael was a man who knew no stranger. He spent his younger days as a bricklayer. Many believed he was the best around. He spent many years working at Mount Vernon Mills and later opened his own small carpenter business “Michael’s Home Improvement”. He loved working with his hands. After several years, he went to work for Lowe’s where he loved helping people and after 12 years retired due to his declining health.
His joy in life was his Harley Davidson Motorcycle. For several years, Michael was a member of the Tribe of Judah Motorcycle Ministries. It was in Michael’s nature to socialize and help others find the Lord. Michael met wonderful friends through the tribe that have become family to him. Michael’s other passion in life was his grandchildren. He loved spending time with them and being a big kid right along with them. From taking them fishing, to getting ice creams, to supporting them at a show or dance, Michael was there for them.
Michael is preceded in death by his dad Clarence Donald Holder, stepdad John Horak, brothers Clarence (Rock) Holder, Lee (Slug) Horak, and Frank Horak. He is also preceded in death by brothers-in-law Weldon Finke and John Locke.

Dr. Michelle Kuhn and Dr. Troy Simmons have gone above and beyond to assist Michael through his battle and always checked on him. Dr. Chris Naumann with Scott and White and all the nurses and doctors at MD Anderson West provided the best care. Ashley with Acara Hospice was a true angel sent to Michael during the most difficult time.
