Michael Johnson

Michael Butler Johnson, of Brenham, passed away on July 24, 2024. No service is scheduled at this time.

Michael was born in Maracaibo, Venezuela to George Harlan Johnson, Sr. and Junell Butler Johnson. He was baptized on October 17, 1965 at First Baptist Church in Anchorage, Alaska. He graduated from Great Bend High School in Great Bend, KS on May 28, 1974 and in December 1986 he graduated from Texas A & M with a bachelor's degree in business administration and was a member of the Century Club. On September 23, 1995 he was united in marriage to Karen Grebe in Wimberly Texas. He worked for 25 years at the Brenham State Supported Living Center, retiring in 2011. He then worked part time at Brenham Banner Press until 2018.

He was a member of Abiding Word Lutheran Church where he served on the Church Council and the Usher Team. He was also a member of the National Rifle Association.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Johnson; stepson, Matt Roese of Austin, TX; stepdaughter, Shannon Edwards and husband, Chris of Huntsville, TX; brother and sister-in-law, George Johnson, JR. and wife, Danise of Caldwell, TX. Step-grandchildren, Joel Edwards and special friend, Ally Miller, Noah Edwards and Emily Edwards all of Huntsville, TX. Uncle, Ted Johnson and wife, Ann of Midland, TX. Brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ken and Karen Grebe of Bleiblerville, TX , mother-in-law, Joyce Grebe of Bellville, TX. Nephew, Geoffery and wife, Kim Johnson and their children, Tanzley and Raelynn of Caldwell, TX. Niece, Megan and husband, Mike Lapaglia and their daughter, Cecily of Bryan, Tx. Niece, Erin and husband, Jason Ryan and their children Jaxon and Parker of Spring, TX.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George, Sr. and Junell Johnson; brother, Jeffery Johnson and father-in-law, Harold Grebe.

In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made in Michael's memory to Abiding Word Lutheran church of Brenham or Hospice Brazos Valley.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 West Main St., Brenham.
