Michael D. Tillotson, 58, of the Longpoint community in Washington County, died in his home on the morning of Monday, October 12, 2009. Born in Richton, Mississippi on April 17, 1951 Michael was the son of T. Carrol & June Denton Tillotson. He attended the University of New Orleans and the Seminary of St. Vladimir. He was a mechanical engineer employed by The Kirkwood Co. Inc. in New Orleans, Louisiana. In 1989, he and Darlene Pearce were married in Mandeville, Louisiana. Michael was a priest of the Greek Antiochian Orthodox Church. His ordination name, Makarios, was the same as his Christian name. Father Makarios was a past chaplain for the Port of New Orleans. Fr. Makarios is survived by his wife, Darlene "Dee" Tillotson, of Burton; by his son, Austin Lee Tillotson and fiancée Jamie Echenroth of Slidell, Louisiana; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Clyde & Darlene Pearce of Brenham; brother-in-law, Dexter Pearce; niece, Alex Pearce; and sister-in-law, Janice Hopkins. Holy Services for the Dead will be held in Foehner Funeral Home in Burton, Texas on Thursday, October 15, 2009 beginning at noon. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
