Mike Ortiz

Mike Fidel Ortiz, 84, of Brenham, passed away July 29, 2012 at his residence in Brenham. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m., Friday, August 3, 2012 at St. Mary''s Catholic Church in Brenham, with Father Ernesto Elizondo, Officiant. Burial will take place in Houston National Cemetery in Houston. Mike Oriz was born January 14, 1928 in Houston to Miguel Fidel and Victoria Hernandez Ortiz. Mike was a member of the U.S. Marines and U.S. Army serving during the Korean War. After relocating to Brenham in 1986, he was employed as a machinist for Steadley Co. for many years prior to his retirement. Mike was a proud member of the American Legion Buddy Wright Post #48 in Brenham. Survivors include daughters Carolyn Carter of Spring and Kathy and Dr. Ted Tenczynski of The Woodlands; brother, George Salazar of Houston; sisters: Celia Sulpacio of Houston, Juanita Mireles of California, Mary Catherine and Sam Cheng of Houston, and Sanaida Gandara of California; grandchildren: Chayne and Serene Carter, Dennie and Amber Stevenson, Denise and Matt Wood, and Sean and Kristin Stevenson; great-grandchildren: Caleb Stevenson, Carter Stevenson, Addisyn Stevenson, Marianne Wood and Jolie Stevenson. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Jack Ortiz, sisters Lupe Longoria and Adelina Hernandez, and very special friend, Emma Jean Roese.
