Mike Stegent

Mike Stegent, 86, of Brenham, died Oct. 20, 2017, at Brenham Nursing and Rehab Center.

The visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22 at Memorial Oaks Chapel.

The funeral for Mike Stegent will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, Oct. 23 at Eben-Ezer Lutheran Church of Berlin with Pastor Ken Weiss officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham.

Mr. Stegent was born Dec. 12, 1930, in Brenham, TX, to Mike and Mary (Pribilski) Stegent. On July 8, 1968, he was married to Joyce Ganske. Mr. Stegent was a member of Eben-Ezer Lutheran Church of Berlin. He loved country and western music, western movies, horses and fishing – if they were biting. His greatest love was his great-grandchild.

Mr. Stegent worked for Schulz and Felcher Bakery, Tiemann Bros Body Shop, and Bruce Ledbetter as a painter, but the highlight of all his jobs was working at Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Stegent of Brenham; son and daughter-in-law, Dwayne B. Sr. and Sharon Stegent of Brenham; grandchildren, Dwayne B. Stegent Jr. and wife Heather and Daniel E. Stegent, both of Brenham; great-grandson, Wyatt L. Stegent of Pearland; brother-in-law, Donald Ganske of New Caney; niece and nephews; mother of his grandchildren, Sherri Stegent; and mother of his great-grandson, Yennhi Lee.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sister-in-law, Floyd and Marie Stegent and Alex Stegent; and sister and brother-in-law, Angeline and Frank Wisnoski.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Borchgardt, Jimmie Weiss, Jason Janes, Kenneth Renner, Johnnie Lacina and Gary Merkel.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Eben-Ezer Lutheran Church of Berlin.
