Mildred Lilly Ahrens Franklin, 89, widow of Don Stephen Franklin, died November 25, 2015 at Scott and White Hospital in Brenham. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 28, 2015 at Memorial Oaks Chapel with Pastor Lee Hartmann officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday evening at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Mildred Franklin was born Feb. 16, 1926 in Brenham to Herman Sr. and Lydia Wehring Ahrens. She married Don Franklin on March 9, 1957. Mrs. Franklin and her family were members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hempstead. She was employed by the school district in Hempstead as a tax assessor/collector. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Lindy Franklin, and a daughter, Ann Franklin, all of Houston; grandchildren: Reese Franklin and wife Melany, Seth Franklin, and Brooks Franklin; a great-grandchild, Conor Franklin; brother, Herman Ahrens, Jr. of Brenham; sisters Helen Nienstedt of Brenham, and Mary Winkelmann of Lufkin. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Mrs. Franklin was predeceased by her husband, Don Stephen Franklin; her parents, Herman and Lydia Ahrens; brothers: Bill, Lee, Harry, and Irwin Ahrens; sisters: Lilly Spreen, Laverne Vash, Hilda Tegeler, and Alice Rust. Serving as pallbearers are Reese Franklin, Seth Franklin, Brooks Franklin, Charles Peterson, David Justus and Ryan Peterson. Memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church of Hempstead, or to the Alzheimers Association.
